BCBA Job Ads Will Tell You About Dental. Not Your Caseload.
Clinicians
Before the tea: This is a recap of a BCBA job-market report from CertifyndABA (Oct 12, 2026), plus one public r/bcba thread from Sep 23, 2026. Not legal or billing advice.
Scroll any BCBA job ad and you know the lineup. Health insurance. PTO. Maybe a retirement plan.
What you probably won't see? How many kids you'd carry, and how many hours you'd have to bill.
CertifyndABA, a BCBA job site, analyzed job postings from 688 employers across the U.S., and the results were pretty telling.
Looking at its broader collection of job ads, about half included salary information, with a median advertised salary of $89,934 per year. And 62% mentioned health, dental, or vision benefits.
But here's where things get interesting. Of the 688 job postings reviewed individually, only 44 listed a caseload expectation, and just 41 specified a weekly billable requirement.
That's only about 6% of postings sharing either of those details.
When ads did share, the median was about 8 clients and 25 billable hours a week.
Why two numbers matter so much
On r/bcba in September, a BCBA asked which offer to take.
Option A: remote RBT supervision at $50 an hour, plus 3 in-home clients at $75 on evenings and one weekend.
Option B: in-home only, 25 hours a week at $75, with 7+ clients.
B paid more per hour but the top reply still picked A. Steadier hours, fewer cancellations, and if you're only paid for billable time, admin work for seven cases eats into that $75.
The hourly rate was never the whole offer.
Pair's Take
If the ad won't say the caseload and billable target, ask. Those two numbers are the job. Then ask how much non-billable time you get for plans and reports.
Our matchmakers ask clinics for both numbers up front.
